Telarc Records recently recorded Dave Brubeck in DSD for a 5.1 surround release in Avatar Studio’s (New York City) Studio C. The recording featured a live interview by Walter Cronkite. Russell Gloyd produced the record, with engineering talent from Jack Renner and Peter Doris.
Also in at Studio C was bassist Marc Johnson recording a new album with an all-star cast for ECM. Manfred Eicher produced, while Joe Ferla engineered with help from Ross Petersen and Brian Montgomery. The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion recently locked out Studio C with engineer Don Smith mixing songs for an upcoming album; Ross Petersen assisted.
Metal band Anthrax recently camped out in Studio A to record their new Greatest Hits album. The recording featured a performance with a live audience of contest winners. Avatar’s Anthony Ruotolo engineered the sessions with help from Peter Doris. Rob Caggianno of Anthrax and Scrap 60 produced. Engineer Neil Dorfsman was recently in recording with producer/percussionist Mino Cinelu for French artist Bernard Lavillier. Aya Takemura assisted.
