Jason Mraz, We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things.
Pop singer/songwriter Jason Mraz scored his biggest hit yet in 2008 when he released We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things., which includes the very catchy, radio-friendly single “I’m Yours,” which peaked on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart at Number Six and as of this writing resides at Number Seven. According to Billboard, Mraz originally recorded that song at home as a demo in 2004 while he was working on his second release, Mr. A-Z, and later offered it to his label, Atlantic, when he was asked to submit unreleased tracks for posting on the Internet. Mraz has been fortunate to work on his major label projects with highly talented, experienced engineers, who impart a sophisticated sheen to Mraz’s sound; in 2006, Mr. A-Z garnered a nomination in the Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for the team of Carl Glanville, Steve Lillywhite, Samuel "Vaughan" Merrick, Jim Scott and David Thoener. This time around, the Recording Academy is recognizing the work of recording engineer Dyre Gormsen—who has also worked with James Morrison, Tyrone Wells, Martha Wainwright, Tristan Prettyman, Ron Sexsmith and Craig David—and mix engineer Tony Maserati, whose star-studded credits include John Legend, R. Kelly, Mary J. Blige, Lil' Kim, Faith Evans, Mariah Carey, Destiny's Child, Brian McKnight, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin and Alicia Keys.
