MUSICARES: MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Recording Academy established of the MusiCares® Foundation in 1989, with a goal to ensure that music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical or personal crisis. Its primary purpose is to focus the attention and resources of the music industry on human services issues that directly impact the health and welfare of music people.
MusiCares provides a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need. MusiCares' services and resources cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies, and each case is treated with integrity and confidentiality. MusiCares also focuses the resources and attention of the music industry on human service issues that directly impact the health and welfare of the music community.
Neil Diamond Named 2009 MusiCares Person Of The Year
GRAMMY-winning recording artist Neil Diamond will be honored as the 2009 MusiCares Person of the Year, it was announced by Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the MusiCares Foundation and The Recording Academy, and John Branca, Board Chair of the MusiCares Foundation.
The annual GRAMMY Week gala dinner and concert — now in its 19th year — will be held in Los Angeles on Feb. 6 two days prior to the 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards. Proceeds will provide essential support for MusiCares, which ensures that music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need.
