Robina Young

This is Young’s ninth nomination in this category. She is both the principal producer and head of A&R for the audiophile Harmonia Mundi label, and in that capacity has recorded more than 400 discs spanning early music (one of her specialties) to modern composers, with plenty of stops in the more traditional classical repertoire along the way. The CDs for which she was nominated this year include familiar Beethoven territory, but also more obscure works, including 16th-century English choral music (Heavenly Harmonies), a pre-Renaissance mass (Scattered Rhymes) and Jewish music for viols (Birds of Fire). All in a few days work for this champion of centuries of musical tradition.
