Mike Elizondo
For the first part of his career, Elizondo was known almost exclusively as a monster session bassist, whose work graced albums by the some of the biggest names in rap/hip hop—Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, etc. But through the years, he’s expanded to guitar and keyboards (while still being a first-call bassist), and worked with plenty of non-urban acts, including Liz Phair, Gwen Stefani, Fiona Apple, Chris Botti and Sheryl Crow. During the past few years, too, he’s added production jobs to his resume, and last year he had two big albums in that regard: Rilo Kiley’s Under the Blacklight and Maroon 5’s smash It Won’t Be Soon Before Long.
