M.I.A., “Paper Planes,” Kala
Sri Lankan singer Maya Arulpragrasam, better known as M.I.A., has been tearing it up in Britain for a few years with her lively international-sounding amalgam of dance, hip-hop, electronica and world music. On her Kala album, she works with a variety of producers, including Timbaland and Blaqstarr, but her dreamy “Paper Planes” was produced by DJ Diplo and largely put together by “dirty house” producer/engineer Switch. The song appeared in the hit American film Pineapple Express and has been omnipresent on video channels for months.
Producer: Diplo. Engineer/mixer: Switch.
