Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, “Please Read the Letter,” Raising Sand
What do you get when you cross the frontman of a legendary hard-rock group with a multi-Grammy-winning bluegrass fiddler and singer? Well, no one would have guessed it would sound like this: Soft as a spring rain, with gorgeous harmonies and lovely instrumental atmospherics courtesy of T Bone Burnett and his crew of great players. There’s no Zep and no bluegrass on the album, yet it feels like a musical marriage made in heaven. This song previously appeared on the Robert Plant/Jimmy Page disc Walking Into Clarksdale. Read a feature-length article on the making of Raising Sand.
Producer: T Bone Burnett. Engineer/mixer: Mike Piersante.
