This Month in Mix
Acclaimed producer/performer/songwriter T Bone Burnett will be inducted into the elite TEC Hall of Fame at the 24th Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards, to be held Friday, October 3, 2008, at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco.
Joseph Henry “T Bone” Burnett first came to prominence in the early 1970s, playing guitar and piano on Bob Dylan's fabled Rolling Thunder Revue. In the 1980s and 1990s, Burnett pursued parallel careers as a performer and producer, releasing several solo albums and helming dozens of records by such artists as Elvis Costello, Roy Orbison, The Wallflowers, Counting Crows, Los Lobos and Gillian Welch.

The multiple Grammy Award-winner has also forged an impressive career in music for film, including his groundbreaking work on the soundtrack to the Coen Brothers' O Brother, Where Art Thou?, an Academy Award nomination (with Costello) for writing “The Scarlet Tide” for the Oscar-winning Cold Mountain and another Grammy for his work as executive music producer on the soundtrack to the Johnny Cash biopic, Walk the Line.
Recently, Burnett has devoted time to his own albums, The True False Identity (2005) and this year's Tooth of Crime. He also produced the TEC Award-nominated Robert Plant and Alison Krauss collaboration, Raising Sand (he also plays on their current tour; see “All Access,” page 66) and John Mellencamp's Life, Death, Love and Freedom.
