Hyde Street Studios Hosts Mic Seminars During AES 2004

TransAudio Group, along with A Designs, Brauner Microphones, Daking Co., Mercury Recording, Soundelux Microphones and SoundField Microphones, and in association with Hyde Street Recording Studios, will host three nightly microphone placement seminars during AES 2004. All three seminars will take place in Hyde Street’s Studio A, and will be engineered by Gabriel Shepard. Events are free for all AES attendees.
On Thursday, October 28, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., William Whitman will lead “How to Place a Guitar Microphone” with Paul Robinson playing acoustic and electric guitars.
On Friday, October 29, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Al Schmitt will conduct “How to Place a Vocal Microphone” with Chris von Sneidern providing the vocals. von Sneidern will also serve as the musical entertainment for the evening’s party, which takes place throughout the facility until midnight.
On Saturday, October 30, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Mix writer and engineer Barry Rudolph will lead “How to Place a Drum Microphone” with Michael Israel playing drums.
In addition to mic seminars, Mercury Recording Equipment will be premiering its line of tube gear in Studio D between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The company is also providing a free shuttle that will pick up passengers at the Moscone Center and go to Hyde Street from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each night. The shuttle will return from Hyde Street to Union Square between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
