Blue Microphones announces that multiple Grammy Award–winning jazz saxophonist Bill Evans chooses the company's Dragonfly microphone exclusively for all his recording sessions. Over the course of his career, Evans has played with a diverse range of artists including Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, The Allman Brothers, and more.

Evans states that whether he is recording with his Grammy-nominated group Soul Grass, or appearing as a guest with other artists, the Dragonfly mic is an essential part of his sound, and that the microphone inspired the title of his latest album, Dragonfly. “I’ve spent my whole life creating my sound, so I want people to hear that sound on my records,” Evans says. “The Dragonfly is the only microphone that really captures what I'm doing without any need to enhance or alter the recording. When I'm listening back, it's like I'm in the room playing. Very few mics can do that.”

The Dragonfly is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone that delivers a silky extended top end while gently accentuating the lower frequencies to provide warmth and fullness. Enclosed within a rotating spherical grill, the capsule can be positioned and adjusted in the tightest of spaces. The Dragonfly is ideally suited for high-frequency sources like alto and soprano vocals, acoustic guitar, drum overheads, electric guitar, and saxophone.

“The Dragonfly allows me to concentrate on what I play and not have to worry about my sound,” Evans concludes. “It’s been a breakthrough for me. We were looking for a name for the album and I said, ‘Let’s just call the album "Dragonfly".’ And we did.”
