This Month in Mix
Buzz Audio announces the release of the Elixir microphone and instrument preamp. The Elixir is designed to fit into the API 500 Series rack format and features a transformerless mic input using Buzz Audio’s proprietary Class-A amplifier technology coupled with a Swedish Lundahl output transformer, which adds a subtle amount of low-frequency color.
The Elixir features up to 70 dB of mic gain, +34 dBu of output level before clipping, a -132.5dB EIN noise level and a frequency response out to 300 kHz. Controls include an output mute switch, high- and low-input impedance selection, and the usual phase change, input pad and phantom power switching. It also has a front panel 1/4-inch DI input.
