Sonar 4’s Producer Track view

Cakewalk has announced Sonar 4 Producer Edition, which is scheduled to ship September 28, 2004. The new version contains added recording, editing, comping and navigation tools, as well as innovative surround and A/V capabilities.

Enhanced comping and editing features include track layer display options, clip muting/isolating, audition selection, customizable nudge, multi-clip slip edits, roll-outs and fades. Users can freeze tracks, effects and synths and then edit and arrange frozen data. Other features include loop construction enhancements including slice-based envelope control of gain, pitch and pan; navigator view; track folders; extended Key Binding enhancements including keystroke-emulating templates for Cubase SX, Nuendo, Logic, Digital Performer, Samplitude and other DAWs; multiformat surround mixing and editing with more than 30 supported configurations (5.1, 7.1, LCRS, etc.); Lexicon Pantheon™ Surround Reverb; Sonitus Surround Compressor; SurroundBridge™ for using stereo effects in a surround environment; video thumbnail track with support for QuickTime, Windows Media Video, AVI and MPEG; extensive export options with useful and configurable presets; POW-r dithering; MPEX time scaling; TTS-1 DXi multitimbral GM2 synthesizer with authentic Roland sounds; configurable RMS and peak meter ballistics; and much more.

Sonar 4 Producer Edition has an MSRP of $959 U.S.; Sonar 4 Studio Edition is $479 U.S. Registered Sonar Producer customers can upgrade to Sonar 4 Producer Edition for $179; while Sonar 3 Studio to Sonar 4 Studio Edition upgrade is $99.
