Carrot Cottage Studios, a recording and mastering facility recently established in Kent, UK, has launched an MP3 mastering service to cater to the growing community of unsigned artists who are releasing their own music via the Internet.
“Our aim is to help unsigned artists improve the quality of their self-produced material, to bring it up to a level consistent with commercially released tracks,” said Mike O’Hara, Carrot Cottage’s managing director and chief engineer. “Our MP3 mastering service allows artists and producers anywhere in the world to send and receive their tracks for mastering via the Internet for a fixed fee, payable only when they are happy with the results.”
After registering at the Carrot Cottage Website, www.carrotcottage.com, customers are directed to a secure Web page where they can upload their tracks as an MP3, WMA, OGG or .WAV file. As soon as the tracks have been mastered, customers can download an evaluation version. Credit card, debit card or PayPal payment is only required once the evaluation version is approved by the customer. “As soon as we receive a new track, we listen to it and contact the customer to give our initial thoughts and to discuss whether there is any specific sound treatment they are looking for,” O’Hara adds.
