High Point Manor in Brentwood, Tenn. has also implemented the PhantomFocus Monitor System from Carl Tatz Design.

Carl Tatz Design (CTD) reports that many Nashville studios have begun to employ its PhantomFocus Monitor System for critical listening applications. According to CTD, PhantomFocus allows the user’s speakers of choice to correct boundary and room mode effects, and render an accurate reference monitoring system. The system can be used in any acoustic environment in either stereo or 5.1 configurations.

The Grip, a state-of-the-art home recording studio owned by Jay DeMarcus (Rascal Flatts bass player and producer of Chicago XXX), has PhantomFocus systems in both the control room and editing suite. "The PhantomFocus Monitor System is incredibly transparent,” says DeMarcus. “When you sit in the sweet spot, you can almost reach out and touch the individual tracks. Carl Tatz has perfected the art of designing a professional, accurate listening environment. That's why I've asked him to design and build another new room."

Commercial recording studio Platinum Lab, with clients such as Randy Jackson, Tommy Sims, Rascal Flatts and India.Arie, has a PhantomFocus Mid-Field Monitor System. "After installing our PhantomFocus system, Platinum Lab has graduated from being primarily a tracking room to a sought-after mix room, as well,” says co-owner Michael Morena. “Now our clients ‘stick around’ and they all say the same thing: ‘We've never heard anything like this before.’"

Yes Master Studios, a mastering house whose clients include Jimmy Buffet, Marty Stuart and Steve Earle, also has a PhantomFocus system. "Once we engaged Carl Tatz Design to design our new mastering suite and PhantomFocus Monitor System, we felt very confidant that the results would be superb, and boy, are they ever," says mastering engineer Jim De Main.

The PhantomFocus Monitor System is available exclusively from Carl Tatz Design and can be employed in any monitoring environment regardless of current monitoring configuration.
