Richard Yawn, supervising sound editor for Danetracks Inc. in West Hollywood, Calif., recently completed work on The Lost City, teaming with actor/director Andy Garcia and executive producer Frank Mancuso Jr. for this story based on a trilogy of novels by the late Guillermo Cabrera Infante. Starring Garcia, Bill Murray and Dustin Hoffman as Meyer Lansky, The Lost City is set in Havana in the late 1950s and presents the tale of three brothers who become caught up in the turbulent transition from the increasingly oppressive regime of Fulgencio Batista to the brutal Marxist rule of Fidel Castro.
Greg Hedgepath, another Danetracks supervising sound editor, along with co-supervisor Frank Smathers, recently completed work on Hustle and Flow for Paramount Classics. Hedgepath teamed up with writer/director Craig Brewer and producer John Singleton for this inspirational story and winner of the 2005 SundanceFilm Festival’s coveted American Dramatic Audience Award. Hustle and Flow, starring Terrence Dashon Howard, TarynManning and rapper Ludacris, is the redemptive story of a streetwise Memphis hustler trying to find his voice and realize his long-buried dreams.
