EdgeSounds has released its Native Russian Vol. 1 ($79.95) sound library for the Akai S3000 format. Native Russian Vol. 1 presents a collection of musical instruments that are typically found in folkloric Russian music. The CD-ROM offers 530MB worth of sample material that was recorded and sampled in EdgeSounds' sound laboratories in Novosibirsk, Russia.

EdgeSounds captured common and rare folk instruments that are played in Russia's middle-eastern region (Siberia, Altai). The collection is designed to help the user create a musical atmosphere reminiscent of the Russian countryside or to add a spice to a contemporary fusion piece.

Its content includes a free-reed family, comprising four different instruments, separately sampled left- and right-hand manuals, different registers and special effects; a plucked string collection with 10 instruments, special effects and loops; 15 wind instruments; two banks of percussion; sound effects; and more.
