This Month in Mix

M-Audio is now shipping WizooVerb W2, a new reverb created by software developer Wizoo Sound Design GmbH. WizooVerb W2 lets users combine the realism of impulse-based reverb with the flexibility of algorithmic reverb—all in true stereo throughout the signal chain.

Exclusive to WizooVerb W2, HDIR (High-Definition Impulse Response) refines the IR method of room modeling; the W2 includes source models from 10 world-class recording and performance venues including Ambience, Booth, Cathedral, Chamber Large, Chamber Medium, Chamber Small, Church, Concert Hall, Dance Club, Opera House, Philharmonic Hall, Room Small, Scoring Stage, Studio Large and Studio Small. A built-in graphic envelope control is also included.

WizooVerb W2 also features Wizoo’s proprietary A.I.R. algorithmic reverb technology. Here, users have control over parameters such as tail delay, room size, ambience, density and color.

Users can choose between HDIR and A.I.R. technologies separately for early reflections and reverb tail or choose an HDIR model for the early reflections and fine-tune the reverb tail with the malleable algorithmic parameters offered by A.I.R.

WizooVerb W2 can also import standard IR files from third parties or created by users that have IR capture software. As with HDIR, you can easily shape the imported IR spaces using a graphic envelope control.

WizooVerb W2 works on both Windows and Mac platforms and can operate in stand-alone or host mode. It supports VST 2.0 (Win/Mac), RTAS (Win/Mac) and Audio Units (Mac) for compatibility with most popular software. Minimum system requirements for PC are Windows XP; Pentium III 1GHz; 512MB RAM; 56MB free hard disk space. Minimum requirements for Macintosh are OS 10.3.8; Power Macintosh G4 1GHz (G5 recommended); 512MB RAM; 68MB free hard disk space. Both platforms require a DVD-ROM drive for installation and Internet connection (via any computer) for software activation. MSRP: $249.95 USD.
