McDSP introduces the ML4000 ($495) mastering limiter plug-in, a high-resolution limiter designed for music, mastering, post-production and live sound, and is available in single and multi-band configurations.
The ML1 single-band configuration is a brick-wall design, coupled with multiple stages of limiting for superior peak detection. A continuous knee control allows the ML1 to operate transparently or aggressively. The ML1 also has look-ahead and zero latency modes.
The ML4 multi-band configuration is a 4-band gate, expander (upward or downward) and compressor fed into the same limiter algorithm found in the ML1. Each band’s gate, expander and compressor can be configured separately or linked together. Steep 24dB-per-octave crossover filters minimize signal leakage into adjacent bands.
McDSP states that the ML4000 will ship in July. The ML4000 is also available in the Emerald Pack HD ($2,695) and Emerald Pack Native ($1,395) plug-in bundles. Existing Emerald Pack customers can purchase the ML4000 as an upgrade for $295.
