Merging Technologies will show Version 5.0 of its Pyramix Virtual Studio DAW at NAB 2006 (booth SL3755). Advances to the system’s firmware have expanded Pyramix’s capability from 64 to 128 I/O, and users can customize the interface to their needs. The company has also improved media management and libraries, transport and machine control, timeline and editing, CD editing and SACD authoring, and general settings.

Pyramix’s Standard Native system now provides four inputs and outputs, while the Native Media Bundle offers eight inputs and outputs. Both versions offer 24-track editing, mixing and processing. In addition, Standard Native and Media Bundle contain Version 5.0 software with the option of a 96kHz sample rate.

Merging Technologies will also show its Isis Remote Controller and Isis Fader Expansion units for the Pyramix DAW. The main controller has jog-wheel editing capabilities, a master fader section and 24 additional user-definable keys across two layers that can be used as 48 direct-access solo/mute/track arming keys, locators, cue triggers, or for any other chosen function. An optional eight-fader expansion unit offers eight rotary encoders. Both units use 100mm touch-sensitive moving faders with dedicated solo, mute, read and write automation keys.

Merging Technologies’ Sphynx 2 audio converter is a combined 8-channel AD/DA audio interface for PCM, DSD and DXD, and handles a wide range of sample rates. Sphynx 2 comes with a MADI interface for single-cable connection to Pyramix.
