This Month in Mix
Mojave Audio announces that its MA-200 ($995) tube condenser microphone has entered general distribution and is available through pro audio dealerships. Since its introduction in May 2004, the microphone had been available in very limited quantities.
Evolving from more 20 years of custom microphone design, the MA-200 is said to provide warm, full-bodied reproductions of vocals and instruments without the shrillness and high-frequency artifacts that are associated with modern condenser microphones. Using hand-selected 3-micron capsules, Jensen audio transformers and military-grade JAN 5840 vacuum tubes, the MA-200 was designed with an eye on the performance characteristics of some of the best-loved classic microphones.
With its cardioid polar pattern, the MA-200 is designed for vocals, voice-over, piano, acoustic instruments, drum overheads, orchestra, spot miking and related applications. It also employs a balanced transformer output and ships with a rugged carrying case, power supply, shock-mount and cables.
