Prism Sound’s Orpheus FireWire audio interface ($TBA) has eight analog inputs and outputs, plus S/PDIF coax and Toslink optical I/O ports, for up to18 I/O channels. Orpheus includes a Mac/Win application for routing signals and controlling its built-in mixer and other functions.

The unit features four digitally controlled microphone preamps for the first four analog input channels, two instrument inputs and dual headphone outputs, each with its own volume control. It also has a large, assignable rotary control for monitoring or output level control. Its mixer can be configured from a host Mac or PC to provide mono and stereo mixes, as well as to monitor inputs. Outputs can also be configured for 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound.

Orpheus includes ASIO and WDM drivers for Windows XP or Vista; for Mac OS X 10.4 or later, Orpheus interfaces directly with Core Audio.
