This Month in Mix
Red Microphones introduces the Type A ($1,345) vacuum tube microphone system with nine interchangeable capsules, which range in price from $249 to $849. To celebrate the release of this new mic, Red is offering a free R7 capsule (a $650 value) to customers who purchase the mic by September 31, 2006.
The Type A is said to combine low noise and superb transient response. The bayonet-mount capsules can be changed quickly for a variety of sounds and pickup patterns without having to shut off the included PowerStream power supply.
The Type A features a transformerless Class-A discrete amplifier circuit and employs a hand-selected ECC88 vacuum tube. It includes a custom-built flight case, Red Microphones’ high-definition tube mic cable, a shock-mount and the PowerStream power supply, which features a soft-start feature for maximizing tube life and minimizing startup time.
Customers who complete their purchase by September 31, 2006, and send in proof of purchase and the Type A Intro Offer redemption coupon will receive an R7 capsule free of charge.
