Newly formed company, Resolution Audio Electronics (introduced by Audio Exchange International) will show its first product, the ResoPre-873, which will be distributed through AXI. The technology is based on the analog, discreet, Class-A mic preamp circuit and transformers that defined the classic sound of the ’70s and ’80s.
“The MIDI control functions in the ResoPre-873 truly make this unit a fine confection of classic superstar sound, remote-control capability and digital integration,” says Brandon McHale, senior design technician for AXI. “The unit was designed to live as close to the microphone as possible, affording the engineer a clean signal by limiting the low-level microphone wire run to a minimum. Control comes from the users computer, digital console, control surface or a remote unit, as there are no knobs on this device. The ResoPre-873 is a two-rackspace unit that has eight channels of I/O with an optional digital output card that we will be introducing in the production unit. This is the type of gear Resolution Audio Electronics was formed to produce, and the ResoPre-873 is a great starting product for the company.”
Also in the works is the new DiPre-73, which will be offered in 1- and 2-channel packages. The single channel is a stand-alone, desktop-type module built in a metal module chassis, using vintage parts from the 10-plus years working on original Neve consoles.
