Much to the relief of the receptionist, the company formerly known as Radio In the Nude has changed its name to Rocket Surgery. The 14-year-old radio production house also moved into a new location in Venice, Calif., and diversified its services into television and film.
“The radio business is amazing and very strong,” comments creative director Andy Lerner. “But our business has evolved. We’ve found that we have interest in concept-development, production and directing that go beyond radio.”
“Many of our clients who have come to rely on us for radio are now able to hire us to create films, TV spots or entertainment,” adds executive producer Jill Kershaw. “We plan to reach people outside of the ad world as well. If it involves good writing, talent direction and a need for humor, then it’s a good project for Rocket Surgery.”
Rocket Surgery’s former incarnation, Radio In The Nude, has produced virtually thousands of radio spots and sound design projects since it was founded in Boston in 1991. In 1998, Lerner moved the company to Santa Monica, Calif. The company has garnered Clios, Communication Arts, One Show, and London International Advertising Awards (LIAA), and worked on radio spots for Coca-Cola, MINI Cooper, Citibank, Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain, Virgin Mobile and Nantucket Nectars.
Lerner notes that Rocket Surgery serves its clients in two ways. The company offers creative, casting and production for a variety of projects. In addition, the facility is available for radio production and audio postproduction for television and film, and includes two recording studios and a post mixer.
