Matador Records/Beggars Group recording artist Cat Power (aka Chan Marshall) was at The Village Recorder in Los Angeles in June to prerecord a live broadcast session for Santa Monica, Calif., public radio station KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic program. The session was produced by Arianna Morgenstern, the show’s producer, and engineered by Jason Wormer with assistant engineer Chris Owens in The Village's Studio B on the Neve VR console.
The Dixie Chicks wrote, recorded and mixed much of their new Columbia album, Taking the Long Way, at the Village Recorder. The album sold 526,000 copies in the U.S. in its debut week and debuted at Number One on the Billboard Top 200. The Dixie Chicks spent nearly one year at The Village, beginning in an upstairs writing room and subsequently passing through Studios A, B and D. The sessions at The Village were overseen by producer Rick Rubin and engineered by Jim Scott and Chris Testa together with assistant engineers Vanessa Parr and Jason Wormer.
