German rock legends BAP are using models from both JBL Professional’s SRX and VRX portable P.A. systems for their current tour of Germany and Switzerland. With German-based sound company Sirius Showequipment AG at the helm, the tour comprises many small to mid-sized venue appearances for which the VRX line is ideal.
The shows on the current BAP tour typically draw crowds of between 800 and 1,500. As such, Sirius Showequipment AG needed a sound system that was versatile enough to be set up quickly and transported easily, but with the characteristics of a concert-grade rig. To that end, 12 VRX932LA two-way line array loudspeakers with VerTec VT4880 subwoofers acted as the P.A. The VRX932LA speakers are used passively, powered with Crown I-Tech 4000 amps. They have been set up four to a side or a pair is pole-mounted over a pair of subs for even smaller venues. Additionally, the group is using JBL SRX712M speakers as wedge monitors and SRX722F speakers with SRX718 as sidefills.
“The new VRX932LA line array is a total surprise to us,” said Wolfgang “Schabbach” Neumann, owner of Sirius Showequipment AG. “It’s simple to use, easy to set up, light weight, has great output and a lot of sound out of such a small cabinet, which you wouldn’t expect when you first look at it. And being able to use one or two VRX932LAs on a tripod stand is unique for small line arrays.”
The VRX932LA is a compact 12-inch, two-way line array loudspeaker designed for use in arrays of up to six units. Each speaker has a 15-degree (nominal) vertical coverage angle. This means that a single enclosure or arrays comprising two or three speakers can provide practical vertical coverage.
