BBC Uses Sennheiser Wireless for the Royal Variety Performance

Entertainment and music stars converged to perform at the 2004 Royal Variety Performance in front of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales at the London Coliseum on December 14, 2004, which screened on BBC 1 the following day.
The event used Sennheiser EM1046 wireless throughout, with London-based Hand Held Audio hiring in their recently purchased 16 channels to supplement the BBC's existing stock. Steve Locking was responsible for wireless mic operations at the event, with product support from Richard Kemp, wireless mic and talkback operations coordinator for BBC Resources, and technical support from Sennheiser UK.
After the show, Kemp commented, "Using Sennheiser EM1046 for such events is a standard as it gives the broadcast quality we require with absolute reliability."
The 76th Royal Variety Performance is a charity event in aid of the Entertainment Artist's Benevolent Fund, and celebrated its centenary and re-opening after undergoing a £41 million restoration. Artists performing at this year's event included Liza Minnelli, Sir Elton John, Sir Cliff Richard, Denise Van Outen, Brian McFadden, Delta Goodrem, Gwen Stefani, Jamelia, Girls Aloud and Lemar.
