Devin Bronson, lead guitarist for Avril Lavigne. installed an Eventide Eclipse™ as the foundation to his guitar rig to guarantee consistent performance with a wide array of functions.
“I have always loved the sounds of the H3000, but never could add it to my rig due to the latency of switching,” said Bronson. “My tone live was a combo of a very organic feed [straight from my guitar] and a very effected feed that included a rainbow of floor pedals. I wanted to consolidate my rig to make live setups easier. The Eclipse seemed to merge all these different units into one while giving me the sounds I loved from the H3000.
“I find the intense altering of reverb to be the most sonically arresting effect from the Eclipse,” he continued. “For my style of playing, combining a reverb preset with a chorus delay effect provides an incredible soundscape for solos. I recently used the Deathflange2 setting on a female vocalist I was recording and the sound was amazing. Everyone who hears it asks where the sound came from.”
Bronson’s Eclipse won’t be limited to live applications. After the current Lavigne tour wraps, Bronson plans to take the Eclipse into the studio. “I think playing with it in the studio will give me more options for possible abstract texturing of tracks. Either way, the Eclipse can add some serious craziness to your tone.”
