Victory Church (Oklahoma City) recently added to its existing space and revamped its older sound system with new equipment to accommodate a rise in attendance. Aviom’s Personal Monitor Mixing System was specified as one of the major new pieces of audio equipment to be installed in the new sanctuary.
“We chose the Aviom system before we signed the contract to start the renovations because we knew it would give us the results we were looking for,” says Dale Swanson, senior executive pastor at Victory Church. “Now that we are using the Aviom system, we have been able to overcome the challenges we previously faced. It has eliminated the stage wash and greatly reduced the dB level, making the volume much more even throughout the sanctuary. The intelligibility is way up, and the overall clarity and quality of the sound is enhanced. The Aviom gear has improved our performances because the bandmembers can hear each other much better.”
Victory Church recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in its new 2,400-seat sanctuary. The new sanctuary has five services on weekends with a contemporary music setup including keyboards, electric guitars, acoustics, drums, percussion, bass and brass instruments. Part of the sanctuary’s sound system redesign comprised removing all of the corners by creating smoother angles and installing acoustic treatment on the ceiling and the walls.
Swanson, who has worked in the contemporary church market for more than 20 years, has noticed a tremendous change regarding the audio technology used for worship services. “Music is a big part of the worship experience and we know people won’t stay if the music isn’t what they like and are having trouble hearing it. Although technology has progressively gotten better from the basic systems that have been used in past years, the Aviom system has given us a much cleaner house sound.”
