Xtreme Audio Visual (Las Vegas) was recently commissioned to design and install a complete audio/visual package for Sky Nightclub. The main club is split into two rooms: Daylight, the main dance area, and the Sunset VIP Lounge.

Daylight presented an acoustical challenge to Xtreme having multiple levels of vaulted ceilings along with raised floor levels. Such variations of reflective surfaces often result in cancellation problems in certain areas and excessive bass in others.

To overcome these problems, Xtreme opted to use the KV2 ES Active driven system comprising four ES1.0s, two ES2.5s, two ES1.8s and two ES1.5s powered by four EPAK 2500s using an Audia Solo for the processing and routing.

The system was designed with the help of KV2’s (Woodinville, Wash.) Andy Austin Brown. Due to the layout of the venue and the club’s busy schedule, the design process was not straight-forward.

Brown’s knowledge of the KV2 products enabled them to come up with an audio solution for all of the problems encountered. One special request from the client was that the system perform and be up fron,t sonically, but aesthetically, the cabinets had to blend in. To accommodate this, KV2 Audio produced cabinet system in a special color-adapted version, allowing it to blend in. Craig Wiggins of Xtreme commented, “Sonically, the system is magnificent, providing a solid bottom end along with crystal-clear vocals—a brilliant all-‘rounder’!”

The club’s VIP room was fitted with the smaller-powered KV2 EX system comprising four EX10s and two EX2.2s.

Wiggins remarked, “In growing our business, it is important to keep up with the latest advances in audio/visual technologies. To that end, we enjoy the fresh approach that manufacturers like KV2 Audio are bringing to the table and the benefits that their products represent to our clients.”
