Symetrix (NSCA booth #217) is introducing a line of modular, RS-485 based remote control wall panels for the SymNet Audio Matrix platform at NSCA 2005. The new hardware will be supported in SymNet Designer V. 5.5 for Windows. These new additions to the Adaptive Remote Control (ARC) family consist of four building blocks capable, in various combinations, of addressing a number of installed sound system control applications including preset switching, volume control, priority paging and room combining.
The six remote controls are the ARC-K1, a dual-function rotary encoder; ARC-SW4, four buttons with corresponding bi-color LEDs; ARC-Mic, which combines an SW4 panel and an onboard condenser microphone with a push-to-talk button; ARC-XLR; EXK, extension encoder; and the EX4 extension button panel. All controls mount in Decora style faceplates (not included).
ARC-Mic and ARC-XLR incorporate a new Symetrix technology known as ARC Audio which allows connection of one channel of balanced analog audio directly to a SymNet Express device, or the newly revised ARC-PS, a rack mountable power supply capable of powering ten ARCs.
This collection of modular controls can be configured for a variety of uses and become interactive in certain scenarios such as room combining.
"Over the years SymNet has made its way into a number conference, multimedia, and event centers. We understood the issues posed by these situations and chose to address them with a line of modular wall panels for the market," said Mike Worona, SymNet product manager.
The hardware--RC-SW4 (four buttons), ARC-K1 (linear encoder), and their extensions, the EX4 and EXK--can control individual room functions or be configured as a master room-combine control center. Buttons can function as manual zone-combine switches or multiparameter preset recalls.
Other additions to SymNet Designer 5.5 include auto mixer combiner modules, priority switching modules for paging, improved IP functionality and improved RS-232 functionality for third-party control systems.
