Adding to its L Series, Alcons introduces the LR14Bass, a high-output bass system designed as a low-frequency extension to the LR14 ultra-compact ribbon line array module. The LR14B can be flown, stacked or serve as a basis for a stand-mount triple-LR14 arrays.
To achieve a higher efficiency than conventional front-loading arrangements, the long-excursion 12-inch drivers are double-vented, double-tuned in a bandpass-loading configuration. The resulting 100dB (1W/1m, full bandwidth 46 to 200Hz) efficiency, in combination with the 3,200W power handling, brings a 135dB peak SPL from a very compact cabinet.
As the LR14B is primarily designed to be used in portable (mainly flown) applications, special attention was paid to the system’s weight. The cabinet is made of 15mm Birch wood with bracing for a lightweight, yet rigid construction. The drivers are two long-excursion 12-inch woofers with Neodymium magnet structures and low-distortion/low power-compression design, resulting in a total weight of 75 pounds, including all flying hardware.
