The Blackbird Academy in Nashville reports that students from its inaugural Live Sound Engineering program had the opportunity to assist country artist Luke Bryan's audio crew for a concert during the second leg of Bryan's current That's My Kind of Night tour, assisting with load-in, soundcheck and load-out.

After finishing their first six weeks of instruction, The Blackbird Academy's students hopped on a bus and headed to Lexington, Ky., for Bryan's sold-out appearance. Bryan's tour is supported by Clair Brothers' Nashville office, and is touring with a Midas XL4 analog console, DiGiCo SD7 with Waves Soundgrid server, an Avid Pro Tools Rig, Yamaha SPX90II multi-effects processor, Eventide Eclipse effects processor, multiple Aphex 622 2-channel Logic Assisted Expander/Gate Dynamics Processors, a TC Electronic M3000 Studio Reverb Processor, and Clair Brothers main, side and rear cabinets.

“It was an amazing experience for the students, from load-in to load out and all of the education in-between," says The Blackbird Academy's Director of Live Sound, Tony Cottrill. "Students had All Access Passes, a first-class ride on a brand new tour bus, great engineering [and] music and topped the weekend off with meeting the star of the show!"
