Faith Assembly of God Church in Orlando, Fla., has brought in an Electro-Voice XLC line array loudspeaker system. Encore Broadcast Solutions of Winter Springs, Fla., specified and sold the system, which was installed by Ricky Johnson of Pro Audio Solutions. Part of a complete sanctuary renovation, the new P.A. features two main arrays of eight XLCi127+ boxes powered by 12 P3000RL amplifiers running E-V IRIS software.
According to Encore's Jeff Cameron, “We’ve had great success with E-V equipment in houses of worship because E-V takes the time to help us educate the customer about exactly what they’re purchasing, how it works and why it’s right for them. These systems are a considerable expense and there are lots of other brands of line array on the market. E-V not only has a superior product, it also has superior people: We always work closely with our reps and E-V to give a high degree of hands-on support long before discussing a sale. I invited Rob Hawks, executive pastor at Faith Assembly, to hear a couple of XLC demonstrations organized by Sales Force, our E-V reps. I wanted to show him how effective a line array could be in a large reverberant space like their sanctuary, and the level of precise, hassle-free control the RL remote control amps offered.
“After these demo sessions, it was time to walk the talk on their turf. We organized a demo in the sanctuary at Faith Assembly, and E-V line array specialist Monte Wise flew down to put the rig through its paces and answer any questions. Of course, they demo'd other manufacturer's line array offerings, too, but the XLC was the right one from day one. Rob was very impressed by the high level of manufacturer involvement in the whole demo process, as well as the XLC’s sonic performance in their space."
“After the XLC was permanently installed, we tuned and tweaked it to the room quickly and easily, and now the sanctuary sounds amazing," Cameron adds. "The intelligibility and coverage are superb, and we’ve had a lot of compliments from the congregation about the warm vocal reproduction—an XLC hallmark.”
