Nashville-based Hugh Bennett Productions, a provider of live sound reinforcement, staging, lighting, video and general event production, recently added a WorxAudio V8 Touring line array and TL215S sub-bass system.
According to Michael Allen (pictured), operations manager for Hugh Bennett Productions, “The V8 has a very compact form factor and, for those of us who have to move and set up the equipment, this makes the in and out process considerably easier. The system goes up fast, and the rigging hardware is excellent. Overall, the system couldn’t be easier to set up and use.
“Since we don’t necessarily have to meet the specific product demands of a production rider for the type of events we handle,” continues Allen, “I find I can place our TrueLine system, get it operational and when people step in front of it, they’re always very impressed with the sound quality and coverage. So for us, we find the WorxAudio V8 and TL215S offer excellent return on investment.”
Currently, the company has 16 V8s and eight TL215S enclosures in its inventory. This past August, Hugh Bennett Productions provided event services for the Kenton National Flea Market and Festival in Kenton, Ohio. While the weather failed to cooperate—with light drizzle and gusting winds—the event went on as planned and the WorxAudio sound system performed well. “We were in an open field with a slight slope that peaked roughly 600 feet from the stage,” recalls Allen. “We had a band called Shenandoah onstage and we flew five V8 boxes per side with four TL215S subs per side—ground-stacked under the V8s. With roughly 7,500 people attending the concert under lousy weather conditions, we encountered no difficulty whatsoever providing adequate coverage and level. I remember walking a good 300 feet back from the stage and being really impressed with the sound—even though the wind was blowing and rain was falling."
