Four Lake Contour digital loudspeaker processors and one Lake Mesa Quad EQ digital matrix processor have been installed in the Barbara K. and W. Turrentine Jackson Hall at the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts at the University of California, Davis.

The Lake processing equipment, with a Toshiba tablet and a Cisco router facilitating wireless operation from anywhere within the auditorium, was supplied and installed by XXXX Audio of nearby Sacramento. According to XXXX Audio president Doug Pumphrey, "The staff at the Mondavi Center has had no trouble utilizing them since the system was installed, and the processors have made a remarkable improvement in the sound quality."

According to Mondavi Center lead audio technician, Rick Scholwin, "The system has been exactly what I hoped for. What a world of difference! Everyone wishes they would have recorded their set once they leave here."

The Lake system is set up for the Mondavi Center's existing L/C/R speaker configuration with an alternate scheme programmed for visiting artists carrying mixing consoles with only stereo outputs available. One Lake Contour controls the flown main L/R Renkus-Heinz high-mid, low and subwoofer speaker arrays. A second offers processing to the center cluster, center downfills and center frontfills. Left/right downfills, frontfills and the deck main L/R speakers are controlled by a third Contour, with the fourth unit managing the hall's surround and balcony fills. The Mesa Quad EQ provides processing for the under-seat subwoofers, two announce boxes and two monitor sends.

Upcoming performances at the hall include shows by McCoy Tyner Trio, Dianne Reeves, the Blind Boys of Alabama, the Mingus Big Band and Joshua Bell.
