Peavey marks one year of RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances)-compliant product design with its new MediaMatrix NION nX processing node, the first shippable RoHS-compliant product; in February 2005, Peavey adopted RoHS-compliant components in its designs.
The release of the NION nX fulfills the first phase of Peavey's
extensive research and re-engineering process to make its product lines
compliant with RoHS environmental standards. The company has assembled
lead-free component libraries and tested lead-free printed circuit board
and solder materials, and its efforts continue in the elimination of
lead in all solder applications, including products assembled through
surface-mount technology such as the new Architectural Acoustics
Prolinx DX and EX audio processor/controllers.
Per Directive 2002/95/EC of the European Parliament, all electronics
imported in the EU must be certified RoHS compliant by July 1, 2006.
RoHS-compliant products must contain less than 0.1 percent by weight in
homogeneous materials for lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium,
polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyls ethers
(PBDE), as well as less than 0.01 percent for cadmium.
