Students watch as the crew wheels the stage into position

PRG (Production Resource Group), the live sound and event resource company with 14 locations in North America, recently brought a group of students from the Conservatory of Recording Arts to the Glendale Sports arena in Arizona to witness the load-in for the bands Nickelback, Trapt and Chevelle.

Roger Gibbons, general manager of touring for PRG, says, “The program at the Conservatory has been part of PRG’s success in the last two years. Every tour we have out on the road right now has at least one Conservatory graduate on it.” PRG is currently supporting tours for Rob Thomas, Lenny Kravitz, Chicago, Fiona Apple and Aerosmith.

The students started the day early at the venue and watched the crew fly the P.A. and lighting, then saw the stage assembled and rolled into place before soundcheck. Various members of the crew were on hand throughout the day to give brief chats to the students about the business and how their jobs fit into the workings of a large rock tour. A Podcast of the tour event can be heard at www.cras.org.
