Designed as a compact and versatile high-performance system for the reproduction of speech and music program material, the new 8M combines a 1-inch exit compression driver with an 8-inch cone woofer.

The 8M’s flexibility is the result of its compact, multi-angled enclosure. Manufactured from multi-cross laminated, 13-ply Baltic Birch for high cabinet rigidity, the 3/4-inch-thick enclosure is coated with a weather-resistant, multi-layered, catalyzed, black polyurethane finish designed to withstand years of tortuous use. The system’s transducer complement is protected by a perforated, powder-coated, steel grille with a high transmission ratio for unobstructed sound quality. Additionally, the 8M provides a recessed handle for easy carrying and a pole cup for “speaker on a stick” applications. There is also a pre-drilled bolt pattern for OmniMount mounting hardware.

The 8M is a two-way design using a 1-inch exit compression driver coupled with a 75x75-degree wooden waveguide horn mated to an 8-inch cone woofer in a tuned enclosure for extended low-frequency response. The system’s high-quality passive crossover network operates efficiently and provides EQ points for a flat frequency response. Frequency range for the 8M is 48 to 19k Hz (-10 dB) while frequency response is 68 to 16k Hz (-3 dB).

The new WorxAudio 8M Speaker System carries a MSRP of $920 and is slated to become available Q3 of 2006. For more information, visit www.worxaudio.com. For more new live sound reinforcement products, visit mixonline.com/livesound/products/.
