March 2007—ADK ( showed the very affordable A-6 ($230), which takes the electronics from its Vienna and Hamburg models and spins it into a fixed-pattern condenser.

November 2004—Handcrafted in Belgium, the CS-1 is a Class-A valve (tube) microphone created for vocal and critical instrumental recordings. The CS-1 features a BK-47 or similar European capsule with custom electronics and modified power supply, Swiss Gotham Audio multipin cable and premium flight case. Retail: $2,999.

August 2003—New from ADK's Area 51 family is the ADK ST ($795), a switchable, tri-pattern, Class-A FET condenser design with -10dB pad and highpass filter controls; and the Model S “Vienna Edition” ($595), a high-SPL-handling, fixed cardioid condenser with -18dB pad and HP filter switches, a 1.07-inch diaphragm and totally upgraded “JP Mod” Class-A discrete electronics. The Vienna takes up to 135dB SPL, which makes it useful for live recording and studio applications, and will be followed by the company's “Hamburg Edition” this fall.

July 2003—Debuting at Summer NAMM from ADK Microphones is an upgraded version of its popular A-51 studio condenser mic but with an Austrian-inspired tonality. The new Vienna Edition features Class-A discrete electronics, dramatically improved specs (15dBa noise) over its predecessor, an 18dB pad and 80Hz HP filter. Retail: $595.

May 2003—No preamp required! At AES Amsterdam, ADK Microphones unveiled its Stealth Pro Audio line, featuring a studio mic with onboard Class-A, line-level output electronics. The first models are due later this year, with a 192kHz digital out version in early 2004.

ADK A-48
March 2003—Shown at Winter NAMM, ADK's A-48 Vintage Valve is a 9-polar-pattern remotely variable tube mic with a transverse-mounted 12AX7 tube and a new 1.07-inch diameter, 5-micron diaphragm. The $1,295 price includes power supply, multipin cable, shockmount and a flight case.

March 2003—ADK Microphones' A-48 Vintage Valve is a studio condenser mic with a transverse-mounted 12AX7 tube and 1.07-inch diameter, 5-micron, gold-sputtered diaphragm. Nine polar patterns are remotely variable from the outboard power supply. The $1,295 price includes PS, multipin cable, shockmount and flight case.

October 2002—The Model "ST" is a Class-A FET design featuring three polar patterns, pad and bass roll-off. Designed for both live and studio applications, this mic has a smooth response curve that's flattering on both male and female vocals. Applications include "point-source" pickup of multiple voices/instruments (bluegrass to barbershop quartet) and high-SPL applications, such as drums and amplifiers. Price TBA.

October 2002—Debuting at AES is an all-new 12AX7 vacuum tube-driven, multipattern vocal microphone that features a transverse-mounted, hemi-head design. Details and pricing TBA.

ADK A51sc
August 2002—From ADK's Audiophile Series FET comes the new A-51sc Small-Capsule Condenser High-SPL Version mic ($399). Introduced at Winter NAMM 2002, the A-51sc is a true condenser design with a 20mm diaphragm, fixed-cardioid polar pattern and 20 to 20k Hz frequency range. A -10dB pad has been added, as well. Included are a mic clip, vinyl pouch and small flight case.

December 2001—The Area 51 Commemorative Edition mic from ADK is a multipattern condenser model featuring a hand-selected, NOS (New/Old Stock) GE 6072A vintage tube. The mic features nine polar patterns and handles SPLs of 125 dB (1% THD @ 1 kHz). A precision condenser element with 1-inch diameter, gold-sputtered dual diaphragms provides a 20-20k Hz frequency response. The Area 51 is $1,895, with foam windscreen, suspension mount, connecting cable, power supply and deluxe aluminum flight case.

July 2001—ADK's new Commemorative Edition Area 51 Tube Transducer mic ($1,895) is signed by company co-founder Lawrence Villella. Debuting at this month's Summer NAMM show, 500 hand-selected vintage GE tubes made it into the Area 51 CEs, along with documents signed by the ADK “staff audiophile” who personally selects each mic. The top-of-the-line Area 51 is ADK's flagship mic and boasts dual 1-inch diaphragms and a multipattern design that can be switched between nine patterns.

October 2000—New from ADK is a large-diaphragm, low-noise transformerless FET condenser microphone with four polar patterns. Identical in dimensions to the A-51TC fixed cardioid tube mic, the A-51TL offers frequency curves specifically designed to emulate a vintage '50s-era European condenser mic.
