Boulder, Colo.-based Airshow Mastering has hired Dominick Maita as senior engineer. Maita brings more than 20 years of experience in pro audio, including stints as chief recording engineer at RPM Studios (New York City) and as a freelance engineer/mixer throughout the U.S. and Europe. Most recently, he was a mastering engineer at Sterling Sound in New York City. Recent mastering clients include projects by Darden Smith, Nnenna Freelon, Fall Out Boy and Loudon Wainwright III.

David Glasser, Airshow founder and chief engineer, said, “Since our expansion last year, we have been looking for a talented engineer to round out our crew. Dominick Maita has the kind of experience that works well at Airshow. Since he’s a musician and an accomplished recording engineer, he’s more valuable to our clients. He’s also had experience with Super Audio CD, which is an important and growing part of our work here. For all the reasons that count, we think we’ve made a good match. He’ll also be able to race his bicycle year-round in our mild climate.”

“Airshow has been very accommodating in preparing a room for my clients, and I’ve assembled my favorite gear from my New York experience,” Maita said. His setup includes a custom mastering console by Muth Audio and analog processing gear from Manley, Sontec, Genelec, API and Tube-Tech. Monitoring is via B&W Nautilus 801 speakers with Classe Omega amp. Sam Berkow designed the acoustics in the 420-square-foot Studio B. “I know my clients will appreciate the similarities to my previous room in monitoring and sonic processing. I hope they also appreciate the differences in the settings here, with a relaxed professional atmosphere and beautiful natural surroundings.”

Maita can be reached at 888/545-9035 or Dominick@airshowmastering.com. For more information, visit www.airshowmastering.com.
