A smaller version of the MPC60, the MPC1000 portable music production center features 16 velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads and the intuitive transport and locate controls.

Also included are the Note Repeat function and two Q-Link sliders that allow real-time interaction with tuning, filter cutoff, layer switching, attack and decay. Two separate multi-effects processors (plus a master output effects processor), resonant multi-mode filters, four-way sample layering and velocity switching per pad, two MIDI Ins and 32 MIDI channels via the two MIDI Outputs, multiple audio outputs as standard, footswitch inputs for hands-free control and four-pole filters (two two-pole filters) for each of the 32 voices. Memory features include 16MB onboard RAM that can be expanded to 128 MB.

New features include the use of compact flash as a storage medium and support for the Mass Storage Class USB standard (a Mac/PC sees the MPC1000 as a Compact Flash reader without needing a driver installation on the computer). This implementation allows the user to drag and drop data between the desktop and the MPC1000’s CF card to build a sound library on the CF card or vice versa.
