Apple introduced Logic Pro 6 for professional musicians, Logic Express 6 for students and educators and a variety of software instruments to be included in future versions of Logic Pro.

Logic Pro 6 includes Logic Platinum and the entire line of 53 audio DSP plug-ins and software instruments. The “recording studio in a box” also includes the ability to create 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound, support for up to 128 audio tracks, virtually unlimited input channels and a sample rate of up to 192k.

Equipped with a basic set of production tools, Logic Express 6 includes over 28 effect plug-ins and sample-based software instruments, support for up to 48 audio tracks, 12 input channels and a sample rate of up to 96k. Everything learned in Logic Express 6 is directly transferable to Logic Pro 6.

In conjunction with the new Logic products, Apple also introduced Sculpture, a new component-modeling based synthesizer, and UltraBeat, a percussion synthesizer that provides multiple synthesis techniques for generating a wide variety of electronic or acoustic drum sounds. Apple also demonstrated Guitar Amp, a full-featured guitar amplifier simulator, and support for enhanced Apple Loops, the powerful open-standard file format for real-time matching of audio loops and sound effects.

Logic Pro 6 and Logic Express 6 will be available in March through Authorized Apple Resellers for a suggested retail price of $999 (U.S.) and $299 (U.S.), respectively.
