Vibetribe Productions’ Avi Geller is moving his operation to central Manhattan, opening a studio that will serve as his main mix environment.

Geller's facility (pictured) currently features Pro Tools HD3, which runs on a Macintosh twin 1.25 GHz G4 (he anticipates an upgrade to a G5). The facility also includes a Mackie dXb console, upgraded from his previous Mackie Digital 8-bus, as well as GML Preamps and EQs. Monitoring includes a pair of ATC 150As that Geller shipped from his London studio.

Despite the new home base, Geller continues to work remotely. "We recently recorded a symphony orchestra in London using Cubase SX running on a laptop," says the songwriter/producer/mixer. The string session was recorded for the UNICEF World Cup campaign theme, reportedly heard by an estimated audience of 500 million worldwide. "I love mobility; it lets me record a great vocal at the most in opportune time. In a hotel room, put a towel over the door, and set up the mic, and you have a great vocal booth."

As a writer and producer, Geller has worked with artists such as Wyclef Jean, Kele Le Roc, Das EFX and classical ensemble The Opera Babes.
