Backbeat Books recently issued Jim Marshall: The Father of Loud, the authorized biography of Marshall Amplification company founder Jim Marshall. Written by Rich Maloof, the book pays homage to the company’s rich heritage, chronicles its contributions to the world of rock and encourages readers to pursue their own musical ambitions.

A recent book signing held at Guitar Center’s Hollywood store, home of the famous Hollywood RockWalk® where Marshall was an inaugural inductee in 1985, brought in such supporters as Slash (who wrote the book’s forward), Kerry King (Slayer), Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains) and John 5 (Marilyn Manson), who were on hand to autograph copies of the book. In addition, an ultrarare, purple Marshall 1959SLPX head with matching 1960TV cabinet was given away in a drawing.
