Following the introduction of the new Whiseworks-NTM filters in the FDS-366T Omnidrive Compact Plus, BSS (NSCA booth 1915) has announced a firmware upgrade for its Minidrive FDS-334 and FDS-336 loudspeaker-management systems, which also includes the new filters.

The new firmware, available as a free download on the BSS Website (www.bss.co.uk), includes the new 36dB and 52dB slope filters, which use a notching design to provide a faster roll-off than equivalent-order Linkwitz-Riley designs, allowing speaker drivers to be powered to their optimum bandwidth.

The new firmware also features updates allowing the Minidrives to be included in the new release of the SB2 control suite, which is also available on the BSS Website. SB2 allows users to control multiple Minidrive or Omnidrive units simultaneously as a group, down to groups of band gains for array control. Custom panels can be created to allow instant visibility of numerous parameters.

Despite the additional features and functionality, U.S. list pricing on the Minidrives remains unchanged with the FDS-334T set at $1,250 and FDS-336T at $1,500.
