On March 9, at the Sheraton Universal Hotel's Grand Ballroom, the Cinema Audio Society (C.A.S.) held its annual awards banquet and ceremony, bestowing top honors on four nominated programs and their respective teams of sound mixers. The Career Achievement Award was presented to Oscar-winning sound editor Kay Rose, while the C.A.S. President's Award was presented to Ed Somers, C.A.S., for his 15 years of ongoing service to the Society.

And the winners are....

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN SOUND MIXING FOR A MOTION PICTURE
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Mixers: Christopher Boyes, Michael Semanick, Gethin Creagh and Hammond Peek.

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN SOUND MIXING FOR A TELEVISION SERIES
