February 2007—The two Pressure Zone Microphones (PZMs) in Crown's SASS-P MK II ($1,830, are aligned in a mono-compatible, near-coincident array, mounted on boundaries with a foam barrier between them to facilitate directional pickup and limit overlap of the two sides at higher frequencies. The polar patterns are omnidirectional at low frequencies and unidirectional at high frequencies. The SASS-P MK II has a 20 to 18k Hz response; signal-to-noise ratio is 73.5 dB @ 94dB SPL. It offers 6mV/Pa sensitivity and handles 150dB SPL @ 3-percent THD. It can be powered by two 9V batteries or 12 to 48VDC phantom. The SASS-P MK II includes a foam-lined carrying case, hand grip, mic stand adapter and windscreen.

July 2005—The CM-200A ($389) from Crown is a handheld electret condenser for onstage vocal and instrument use. A multistage internal pop filter reduces wind noise, and the cardioid pattern produces high gain before feedback. An upper-midrange presence peak helps increase articulation. Handling noise is extremely low, and the mic is designed to withstand repeated drops. The CM-200A may be phantom-powered from 12 to 48V, and includes a foam windscreen for outdoor use. The CM-200ASW adds a built-in, silent on/off switch. Frequency response is 80 to 15k Hz with a max. SPL of 15 dB (3% THD) with 48V supply (143 dB SPL w/12V supply); impedance is 200 ohms.

June 2001—Featuring Crown's patented Differoid technology, the CM-310A is a cardioid electret condenser mic with a 60 to 17k Hz response. Retail is $309, and the CM-310ASW model with a built-in magnetic reed On/Off switch is also available.

October 2000—The Crown CM-700MPS is a complete set for stereo miking an orchestra, choir, folk group, drum set, piano or other musical sound source. Includes a matched pair of CM-700 cardioid condenser mics, ASA-4 stand mounts, CM-SM shockmounts, WS-11 windscreens, CM-SB stereo bar, foam-lined carrying case and a template for stereo mic positioning. Mics are matched within 1.5 dB.
