Ego Systems’ MaXiO XD is a PCI-based, 32-channel, 24-bit/192kHz recording system that can handle 32 simultaneous channels of analog inputs and outputs.

The basic system comprises the EX-8000, a two-rackspace unit with 8-in/8-out balanced XLR connectors and a PCI interface. It is equipped with four FireWire-like EDI (EgoSys Digital Interface) connections, each capable of supporting one EX-8000, giving the system 32-channel capability on one card. The front panel features eight balanced mic preamps, XLR or TRS inputs, a 10-step LED peak metering lights for each channel, 48-volt DC phantom power on each channel, AES/EBU and S/PDIF digital I/O, and a headphone monitor.

MSRPs include MaXiO XD with EX8000, $1,999; EX8000, $1,499.
