A certified OSHA technician will conduct the screenings and can test up to four people at once every 15 minutes. Upon completion, participants receive a computerized printout of their test results. All test data is retained in a confidential database at the Institute, so that people who have had previous screenings at AES can compare their current test with their prior year's results. A licensed audiologist from the Institute will be available during much of the show to counsel participants on their confidential results.

HEI's Sound Partners program is an outreach initiative to raise awareness among audio and music professionals and the listening public about the importance of safe listening practices in the prevention of permanent hearing loss.

"The AES Convention is an ideal opportunity for us to outreach to audio engineers, many of whom are at high risk for noise-induced hearing loss," said Marilee Potthoff, marketing director, House Ear Institute. "We see large numbers of AES members returning to our booth each year to take advantage of our hearing screening services and health information. It is encouraging that we are also starting to see a growing awareness among audio engineers about the importance of safe listening practices."
